Blind ICT
Quote from Master Po, the blind monk of the TV series Kung Fu:
"They are not blind
it's just that they do not see."
Welcome to the site of Peter op 't Hof (Hofcomware), the man who has the clearest vision with eyes closed.
This site aims to provide information about my field of work and related issues.
My expertise covers three main areas of work:
1 ICT
Accessibility and usability of applications, sites, user-interfaces (User-Centered Design), operating systems and hardware;
Research on accessible learning options and E-learning work environments;
ICT- and organisation Security;
Infrastructure Consultancy;
Digital audio technology and functional application of multimedia;
Testing and advise on workflows and interfaces;
2 Management- & Businessconsultancy
Process management and service management;
Knowledge management, chain management and quality management;
Coaching and training;
Auditing and consultancy;
3 Organisational Psychology
Teambuilding, competence management, mediation and coaching;
Motivation from working towards a solution with purposeful communication structures;
Change management and analysis of resistance;
I aim to ensure a constant fusion and interaction between these three areas of work, which can be experienced and transmitted in workshops, via personal guidance or within a project framework.
The above mentioned areas constitute both my work and my hobby. As as result I have dedicated myself to the many issues that evolve around these matters for a very long time.
Through this website I like to share and collect information and I would certainly like to seize the opportunity to not only offer solutions, but to also enhance awareness about the various problems that arise when working as a consultant with an impairment in the present-day trade and industry. I also would like to propagate the learning results that may be useful to my fully sighted peers as well.
Sharing of information is definitely useful these days.
The days in which ‘you were cared for’ are forever gone and we will have to be ever more self sufficient. And to be honest, there is nothing wrong with that.
It helps to believe in the power of oneself.
The first part of the new century has certainly come with problems but it also brought about tremendous progress in the area of technological development as well as a level of spiritual growth, both contributing to a better understanding of people who have an impairment. Especially in the field of mobility and information provision great strides have been taken in the right direction. Now it is up to us to make the best of that and to show that the fact of having an impairment brings out other talents in a person.
Furthermore I am of the opinion that a good personal development can only be achieved in a stable working environment and within an enthusiastic group of colleagues and a stimulating organisation. Please see the page about my work for more information.
I have put together this information not just to promote my endeavours, but foremost I have created this web site to provide a platform to share information, to collect information and to enhance awareness about the many possibilities and talents a ‘healthy’ person can recognise in a person with an impairment.
